Edge to edge (or overall) quilting designs are the most simple, economical and popular choice. These continuous designs go from edge to edge on the quilt top. Choices include several patterns which can be either freehand or pre-programmed and done by Statler Stitcher. When guided by the Statler Stitcher (a computer program), the machine can stitch almost any design, as well as regulating the length of the stitches. Edge to edge quilting preserves your quilt design while adding texture. To further customize your quilting, choose a combination of patterns (for example, use flowers in the quilt blocks and leaves in the borders). This is denser quilting and can be done either freehand or by Statler Stitcher. |

Other Thread |
While we will always do our best to accommodate your requests, we are not always able to use just any thread you might bring to us. Our desire to give you the best possible quilting means that sometimes we cannot use certain threads due to machine tension (and other) constraints. If you have a specific thread you would like us to use, we are happy to discuss those options with you in advance. |

Following this simple list of instructions will help you prepare your quilt top and backing for longarm quilting, as well as avoid additional charges. Please contact us with any questions and we will be happy to assist you. |
||||||||||
Press the quilt top and back well and be sure that they are square. |
Be sure all the seams are pressed flat on the quilt top and that none are coming apart. If you have pieced the quilt back, be sure that you have pressed the seam and that it is secure. Remove all selvages from the seams and edges of the quilt back. Check that the top and the back are square—if you need help with this process, please contact us. If the top and the back are not square, they will not load properly onto the machine. Unless you instruct us otherwise, we will stay-stitch around the edges of the top and the back to ensure that no seams pop open during the quilting process. |
|||||||||
Trim and remove all stray threads. |
It is very important to remove any stray threads from the back of the quilt top and along the seam of the quilt back. Stray threads can show through the quilt top or back after it has been quilted and will diminish the look of the finished product. |
|||||||||
The quilt backing and batting must be at least 8" larger all the way around than the quilt top. |
In order to load the quilt onto the machine straight, the quilt backing and batting must be at least 8" larger than the top. For example, if your quilt top measures 48" x 60", the backing and the batting should both be 56" x 68". |
|||||||||
Indicate which edge of your quilt top is the top. |
If there is a top edge to your quilt top, please pin a piece of paper to that edge so that we may orient the top correctly when loading it onto the machine. This also indicates the orientation of some quilting designs. |
|||||||||
Do not baste the quilt. |
In order to load the quilt onto the machine, it cannot be basted. The top, backing and batting are all loaded separately from each other onto the machine. Please be sure the three pieces (top, batting and backing) are not attached to each other when you send them to us. An extra charge will be applied if your quilt is already basted when we receive it. |
|||||||||
Please be sure the borders are completely flat when you attach them to your quilt top. |
When you apply borders to your quilt top, an easy way to prevent "wavy" borders is to measure the quilt top on both edges and then down the center. Add the three measurements together and then divide them by three to get an average size for the border. Do this when attaching borders both vertically and horizontally, and your borders will be the perfect size. When you measure your finished quilt top across the center of the top and then the outside edges, there should not be more than 1/2" difference between the two measurements. This will prevent tucks from being quilted into your quilt. |
|||||||||
Be sure to include any special instructions. |
If you have other specific instructions for us, please be sure to include them when you send your quilt top to us. |
|||||||||
We only ship with the USPS, with a signature required when you receive your quilt. |
Your quilt will be sent back to you via the USPS with a signature required upon your receipt of the package. Additional insurance is available for approximately $1.00 per $100.00 of insurance. Please let us know if you would like us to purchase additional insurance when we ship your quilt back to you. A variety of other handling services is available for additional charges (such as package tracking) if you so desire. When we ship your package to you, we will call or email you to let you know that it's on the way. |
|||||||||
Please wrap your quilt top, back and batting in a plastic bag when you ship it to us. |
To ensure that your quilt top, back and batting arrive in the best condition possible, please wrap them in a plastic bag. In the highly unlikely event that your package is exposed to the elements on its way to us, this will help prevent any damage to your quilt top. |
